    Today was my second trip to Pisces.  Previously I had the sword fish and salmon kebabs and today I ordered the king crab legs.  I am not a fish connaisseur and the staff are always proactive in suggesting cooking methods and times.  Pisces sets the standard in seafood in Toronto.  And by all means pickup some of the crab cakes to cook at home--simply divine.

    I have ordered poached salmon sides from Pisces in the past. I have always been pleased. I ordered a side for New Years, specifically organic Atlantic salmon. Well they muddled the order and after a 15 minute wait they gave me whatever they could find, in this case, generic Atlantic salmon. Not the same, but I was stuck. The sales guy told there was no difference in flavour  and the only difference was what the fish fed on.
    Well that's precisely why they should taste different. The generic salmon was fishy tasting and a disappointment. Not sure I will be back.  Admit you made a mistake and don't fob off the customer with bs.  If you do order from them call a day ahead and confirm your order with them.

    So disappointed.  I have purchased fish from these guys for more years than I wish to say.  I believe in supporting local shops, even the FiveTheives.  Over the past few months I bought their butterflied breaded shrimp , many times.  Twice it was horriblly  old. When I menitoned it to them it was "Oh Well" basically.   Bought Sole fillets recently.  Not fresh AT ALL.  Most recently bought marinated shrimp, herb and garlic, they were so over cooked the texture was that of a hockey puck.  Again, I mentioned it to them, and not even apology.  Its worth the drive and parking to go to Del La Mer on Bayview.
